Colombian stocks climb as COLCAP rises 2.34% with Industrials, Services and Agriculture leading gains

Index strength driven by advances in energy and utilities names, while select financials slipped to losses

Colombian equities closed higher, with the COLCAP up 2.34% as Industrials, Services and Agriculture sectors pushed the market upward. Utilities and energy-related stocks posted notable gains while several financial shares declined, including one hitting a 52-week low. Commodity and currency moves accompanied the equity session.

Colombian equities finished the session higher on Thursday, with sector-level strength in Industrials, Services and Agriculture contributing to a broad market advance. At the close, the COLCAP index had gained 2.34%.

Among individual issues, Grupo Energia Bogota SA ESP (BVC:GEB) was one of the stronger performers, rising 1.39% - a 40.00 point increase - to end the trading day at 2,915.00. Interconnection Electric SA ESP (BVC:ISA) added 0.74% - up 200.00 points - to close at 27,200.00, while Celsia SA (BVC:CEL) finished the session 0.72% higher, a 35.00 point gain to 4,865.00.

On the downside, Corporacion Financiera Colombiana (BVC:CFV_p) recorded a 2.01% decline, slipping 320.00 points to a close of 15,600.00. Grupo Aval Acciones y Valores SA Pref (BVC:GAA_p) fell 1.97% - down 16.00 points - to finish at 798.00, and Grupo Argos SA Pref (BVC:ARG_p) dropped 1.71%, or 200.00 points, to 11,480.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombia Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.

The session included a notable milestone for Corporacion Financiera Colombiana (BVC:CFV_p), whose shares moved down to a 52-week low, closing 2.01% lower at 15,600.00.


Commodities traded alongside equities showed mixed moves. US coffee C for July delivery declined 2.08% - down 5.85 - to $274.90. US cocoa for July delivery fell 3.87% - a drop of 170.00 - to $4,223.00. Precious metals were also lower, with the June Gold Futures contract down 1.09% - a decrease of 51.35 - to trade at $4,655.35 a troy ounce.

Currency crosses and the dollar index reflected modest adjustments. The USD/COP exchange rate was down 0.04% at 3,789.73, while BRL/COP fell 0.03% to 760.10. The US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.36% to 98.78.
