Poland's equity market finished the trading day on Thursday in negative territory, with the WIG30 index retreating 1.34% at the close in Warsaw. The session was marked by broad weakness in several sectors, particularly Basic Materials, Banking and Information Technology.

Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN) reached a milestone during the session, trading at 155.86 after a 2.62% rise to that level.
Commodity markets showed notable moves that coincided with the equity session. Crude oil for September delivery rose 6.48%, gaining 5.63 to trade at $92.46 a barrel. Brent oil for September delivery increased 7.15%, up 6.73 to $100.80 a barrel. Currency trading reflected modest zloty weakness: the euro climbed 0.26% versus the zloty to 4.33 (EUR/PLN), and the dollar was up 0.62% against the zloty to 3.81 (USD/PLN). Separately, the US Dollar Index Futures was reported up 0.40% at 101.36.
The combination of sector-led declines on the equity front and sizable moves in energy and precious metals underscores divergent forces at play across Poland's market on the day. Energy-related equities displayed relative strength while several consumer and retail-related names experienced notable pressure.
Market participants may weigh the influence of commodity price swings and currency moves on corporate earnings and valuation in the near term as the trading environment evolves.
