Market breadth favored losers, with 671 stocks falling versus 347 advancing on the Taiwan Stock Exchange; 104 issues finished unchanged. The session's price action produced notable concentration in extreme moves, with a handful of names posting near-double-digit gains while several others posted declines of similar magnitude.

Commodities displayed significant intraday moves. Crude oil for October delivery increased 2.87%, rising $2.39 to trade at $85.79 a barrel. Brent oil for December delivery jumped 5.41%, up $4.66 to $90.78 a barrel. In contrast, the December Gold Futures contract fell 1.06% or $47.95, trading at $4,481.95 a troy ounce.

On the currency front, USD/TWD was up 0.09% to 31.69, while TWD/CNY was unchanged 0.19% to 0.21. The US Dollar Index Futures registered a small decline of 0.08%, trading at 99.58 at the time referenced.
