Taiwan equities close higher as Taiwan Weighted posts 2.18% gain, hits new record

Glass, electronic parts and optoelectronic sectors drive rally while select small-cap names see double-digit moves

Taiwan markets ended Tuesday on a strong note, with the Taiwan Weighted climbing 2.18% to a fresh all-time high. Gains were concentrated in Glass, Electronic Parts/Components and Optoelectronic sectors, while individual stocks recorded wide moves in both directions. Energy and precious metals prices moved unevenly in commodity markets, and currency rates showed modest shifts.

Taiwan shares finished higher on Tuesday, led by advances in the Glass, Electronic Parts/Components and Optoelectronic sectors that pushed the benchmark to a new record.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 2.18% to register an all-time high.

Among the top performers on the Taiwan Weighted, Les Enphants Co Ltd (TW:2911) jumped 10.00% - an increase of 0.79 points - to close at 8.69. Harvatek Corp (TW:6168) climbed 10.00% or 2.80 points, finishing at 30.80. TXC Corp (TW:3042) also gained 10.00%, up 16.00 points to end the session at 176.00.

On the downside, Yeong Guan Energy Technology Group Co Ltd (TW:1589) fell 9.92% or 0.61 points to close at 5.54. Lung Hwa Electronics Co Ltd (TW:2424) declined 9.88% - a drop of 1.60 points - to 14.60, and Chung Fu Tex-International Corp (TW:1435) lost 9.51% or 1.35 points, ending at 12.85.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.

Several individual share milestones were recorded during the session. Les Enphants Co Ltd (TW:2911) reached 52-week highs with its 10.00% gain to 8.69. Yeong Guan Energy Technology Group Co Ltd (TW:1589) fell to all-time lows after dropping 9.92% to 5.54. Harvatek Corp (TW:6168) advanced to three-year highs, rising 10.00% to 30.80. Lung Hwa Electronics Co Ltd (TW:2424) fell to five-year lows following its 9.88% decline to 14.60. TXC Corp (TW:3042) moved to all-time highs on a 10.00% rise to 176.00. Chung Fu Tex-International Corp (TW:1435) dropped to five-year lows with a 9.51% loss to 12.85.

Commodities trading showed mixed results. Crude oil for July delivery fell 4.82% - down $4.66 - to $91.94 per barrel. Brent oil for August delivery rose 2.13% or $1.99 to $95.41 a barrel. The August Gold Futures contract inched up 0.08% - a gain of $3.82 - to trade at $4,560.22 a troy ounce.

Currency movements were modest. USD/TWD was up 0.33% to 31.51. TWD/CNY was unchanged 0.23% to 0.22. The US Dollar Index Futures increased 0.14% to 99.06.


The market session combined notable sector strength with sharp divergences at the individual stock level. Sector-led gains drove the benchmark higher even as a number of smaller names recorded steep declines and fresh lows. Commodity and currency moves were mixed and modest, reflecting uneven pressure across energy, metals and FX markets.
