Saudi Arabia equities finished with modest gains after the close on Thursday, pushed by strength in Industrial Investment, Energy & Utilities and Insurance sectors. At the closing bell, the Tadawul All Share index had risen 0.27%.
Certain mid- and small-cap names delivered the session's largest moves. Electrical Industries Co (TADAWUL:1303) topped the leaderboard, climbing 9.93% - an increase of 1.34 points to finish at 14.83. National Medical Care Company (TADAWUL:4005) added 5.50%, gaining 6.00 points to close at 115.00, while Ataa Educational Co (TADAWUL:4292) rose 5.40%, up 2.42 points to 47.20.
On the downside, Raoom Trading Company SJSC (TADAWUL:4144) led losses, dropping 4.43% or 3.50 points to end at 75.50. Dar Alarkan Real Estate Development (TADAWUL:4300) fell 3.27%, down 0.65 points to 19.20, and Jamjoom Pharmaceuticals Factory Company SJSC (TADAWUL:4015) declined 2.86% or 4.20 points to 142.40.
Market breadth was narrowly positive, with 158 advancing issues versus 153 decliners on the Saudi Arabia Stock Exchange; 19 stocks finished unchanged.
Commodities and currency movements accompanied the equity action. Crude oil for September delivery rose 4.68% - an increase of $4.06 - reaching $90.89 per barrel. Brent oil for September delivery climbed 5.83% or $5.48 to settle at $99.55 a barrel. In metals, the August Gold Futures contract fell 1.93%, down $80.13 to trade at $4,071.77 per troy ounce.
In foreign exchange trading, the euro traded weaker against the Saudi riyal, with EUR/SAR down 0.25% to 4.27. USD/SAR was effectively unchanged, moving 0.01% to 3.75. The US Dollar Index Futures was higher as well, up 0.30% at 101.25.
The session highlighted a market where sector leadership in industrials, energy and insurance coincided with notable moves in individual names, while global commodity price swings and currency behavior added layers of volatility to investor considerations.
