Among the blue chips, Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) was the session's top gainer on the CAC 40, rising 2.06% or 1.30 points to finish at 64.50. Stellantis NV (EPA:STLAM) added 1.70% or 0.08 points to close at 4.76, and Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) rose 1.38% or 0.21 points to end the day at 15.41.

On the downside, Airbus Group SE (EPA:AIR) led decliners on the index, sliding 2.86% or 5.81 points to close at 197.24. Schneider Electric SE (EPA:SCHN) fell 2.37% or 7.15 points to 294.60, while Legrand SA (EPA:LEGD) dropped 2.22% or 3.10 points to end at 136.55.


SBF 120 leaders and laggards

Within the SBF 120, Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) was the session's top performer, advancing 6.39% to 114.90. Viridien SA (EPA:VIRI) gained 6.04% to settle at 87.80, and Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) climbed 4.90% to close at 18.63.

The weakest names on the SBF 120 included Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP), which fell 4.57% to 5.05 at the close, Atos SE (EPA:ATOS), down 3.52% to 27.98, and Valneva (EPA:VLS), which declined 3.15% to 2.71.


Breadth, volatility and notable company action

Decliners outnumbered advancers on the Paris exchange by 287 to 175, with 89 stocks unchanged at the close. Atos SE was highlighted for hitting a 52-week low, dropping 3.52% or 1.02 to 27.98.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures implied volatility in CAC 40 options, was unchanged on the day at 18.96, registering a new 52-week high.


Commodities and currency moves

Commodities trading recorded contrasting moves. Gold futures for December delivery were reported down 1.09% or 49.34 to $4,480.56 a troy ounce. In energy markets, crude oil for October delivery rose 2.45% or 2.04 to $85.44 a barrel, while the December Brent contract increased 4.88% or 4.20 to trade at $90.32 a barrel.

In foreign exchange, EUR/USD was listed unchanged 0.28% at 1.16, and EUR/GBP showed no change and was quoted 0.16% at 0.86. The US Dollar Index Futures was indicated down 0.27% at 99.39.
