Nebius Group (NASDAQ: NBIS) said on Thursday that it has brought up and is validating a full NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 rack at its Finland data center, marking a milestone the company says places it among the earliest cloud providers to achieve that status. The timing of the update is notable: it arrives two days after NVIDIA disclosed a 9.3% passive stake in Nebius and after Nebius' shares moved higher on the news.
The stake, held by NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) as a passive investor, frames the deployment as more than a simple hardware rollout. Nebius' statement and the sequence of events suggest a two-way strategic element: Nebius secures early access to NVIDIA's latest AI infrastructure while NVIDIA gains a prominent customer running its most advanced platform.
In a post on X, Nebius described the logistical steps underway at the Finland facility, noting that NVIDIA Spectrum-6 switches, which arrived the prior week, are being brought up concurrently with the compute systems by the same team in the same location. The company emphasized the role of a close engineering partnership, writing:
"The close co-engineering relationship we enjoy with NVIDIA means we work together from the earliest stage of every new platform, shortening the path from first rack to production workloads,"and added:
"After bring-up and validation comes software polishing and production-grade testing, so when Vera Rubin reaches our customers, it delivers its full potential from day one."
The announcement follows competitive activity in the market. Rival cloud GPU provider CoreWeave said it completed what it called "the industry's first bring-up and validation of NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72" in early June and published silicon performance figures on July 22 showing the platform delivered 10x more tokens per second per megawatt than Grace Blackwell NVL72 on DeepSeek R1, according to CoreWeave's blog post.
NVIDIA itself confirmed that Vera Rubin NVL72 moved into full production in June 2026. The company said racks were running at CoreWeave, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure across more than 350 factory sites in 30 countries, reflecting broad upstream adoption of the platform.
The Vera Rubin architecture represents a material step in NVIDIA's GPU roadmap. NVIDIA's technical blog details the platform's design: seven co-designed chips, 22 TB/s of HBM4 aggregate bandwidth per GPU (about 2.8 times that of Blackwell), and NVLink 6 operating at 3.6 TB/s bidirectional per GPU. NVIDIA also noted the architecture cuts inference token cost to roughly one-tenth of Blackwell's level.
For Nebius, the Finland rack bring-up coincides with recent financing and a large contracted revenue base. Earlier in July the company secured a $775 million GPU-backed senior secured debt facility to support infrastructure expansion without issuing new equity. Nebius also reports more than $40 billion in contracted revenue from investment-grade customers, which the company says includes Microsoft and Meta.
Market pricing has reflected investor interest since the NVIDIA stake became public. NBIS shares closed Wednesday at $218.16, up 0.57% for the session, and were indicated to open flat in pre-market trading ahead of Thursday's market open. Over the past year the stock has rallied more than 318%, and its 52-week range spans $50.00 to $299.86.
Analysts reacted constructively to NVIDIA's disclosed holding. Northland Capital raised its price target to $410, while Bank of America maintained a $280 target, according to estimates cited by market sources. Freedom Capital also upgraded the stock, citing a revised valuation approach.
Attention now turns to Nebius' next quarterly report. Q2 2026 earnings are expected in early August and will be the first scheduled financial update since NVIDIA's stake disclosure and the Finland rack announcement. Consensus analyst estimates forecast roughly $583 million in revenue for the quarter, and there have been two upward EPS revisions in the past 90 days. The upcoming report presents management with an opportunity to provide more concrete timing for Vera Rubin's commercial rollout and to update investors on the company's contracted revenue backlog.
