Commodities showed notable moves that accompanied the equity performance. Brent oil for September delivery decreased 4.65% - a loss of 4.68 to settle at $96.01 a barrel. U.S. crude for September delivery also declined, down 4.14% or 3.82 to $88.37 a barrel. In contrast, the August gold futures contract rose 0.71%, an increase of 28.67 to trade at $4,078.87 a troy ounce.

On the currency front, EUR/USD was essentially unchanged, moving 0.06% to 1.14, while EUR/GBP was flat at 0.85 with a 0.13% change recorded. The U.S. Dollar Index Futures eased 0.10% to 101.19.
