Finnish shares finished the trading day in positive territory on Friday, with the benchmark OMX Helsinki 25 recording a 0.40% gain at the close in Helsinki. Strength in Industrials, Technology and Basic Materials stocks contributed to the advance.
Among constituents of the OMX Helsinki 25, Valmet Oyj delivered the strongest performance, jumping 21.51% to finish at 26.78. Metso Oyj also advanced, adding 7.31% to close at 16.74. SSAB AB B moved higher as well, ending the session up 5.19% at 9.12.
Not all large-cap names participated in the rally. Konecranes ABP was the session's weakest performer on the index, sliding 8.80% to end at 25.70. Neste Oyj declined 7.44% to finish at 31.09, while Nokia Oyj dropped 5.49% to 8.22.
Market breadth on the Helsinki Stock Exchange tilted positive, with 99 stocks rising versus 71 that fell; 18 issues were unchanged at the close.
Commodities and FX moves
Commodity markets shifted notably during the session. Brent oil for September delivery fell 4.55% to $96.11 a barrel. U.S. crude for September delivery eased 4.06% to $88.45 a barrel. In precious metals, the August Gold Futures contract ticked up 0.71%, trading at $4,078.87 a troy ounce.
In currency markets, EUR/USD was reported at 1.14 with a 0.08% change noted, while EUR/GBP registered a 0.13% move to 0.85. The US Dollar Index Futures was quoted lower by 0.11% at 101.18.
