Context and closing note

The session showed a bifurcated market where select energy and utility names outperformed while several financial and investment-related stocks weighed on the benchmark. Movements in commodity contracts and a firmer dollar coincided with the equity weakness recorded in the COLCAP.

Risks

  • Sector concentration risk: losses were concentrated in Financials, Investment and Public Services, which could magnify downside for portfolios exposed to those sectors.
  • Commodity and FX volatility: significant moves in cocoa, coffee and the US Dollar Index Futures, alongside USD/COP appreciation, introduce additional market uncertainty for export-linked and FX-sensitive firms.
