Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CSCO) fell 3.62% or 2.89 points to 77.03, and NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) slid 1.47% or 2.46 points to 165.06.
Within the S&P 500, the top gainers included FMC Corporation (NYSE:FMC), which rallied 6.66% to 16.81. ServiceNow Inc (NYSE:NOW) advanced 5.59% to settle at 104.97, and Palo Alto Networks Inc (NASDAQ:PANW) gained 4.97% to close at 154.33. The index’s laggards were led by Sysco Corporation (NYSE:SYY), down 15.29% to 69.30, Micron Technology Inc (NASDAQ:MU), which lost 9.81% to settle at 322.05, and Boston Scientific Corp (NYSE:BSX), which declined 9.04% to 62.92 at the close.
Movers on the Nasdaq Composite were more extreme among small-cap and speculative names. E-Home Household Service Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:EJH) recorded a very large percentage increase, gaining 2,245.92% to 2.36. PMGC Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:ELAB) rose 113.17% to 3.56, and BullFrog AI Holdings Inc Unit (NASDAQ:BFRG) climbed 106.57% to 1.05. On the downside, Skycorp Solar Group Ltd (NASDAQ:PN) plunged 68.92% to 0.31, Scienture Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:SCNX) fell 42.23% to 0.24, and Fibrobiologics Inc (NASDAQ:FBLG) dropped 42.01% to 2.28.
Across the exchanges, decliners outnumbered advancers. On the New York Stock Exchange, 1,430 issues fell compared with 1,314 advancers and 78 unchanged. On the Nasdaq Stock Market, 1,943 names fell, 1,443 advanced and 171 finished unchanged.
Several individual stocks reached notable lows during the session. Boston Scientific’s shares fell to 52-week lows, sliding 9.04% or 6.25 to 62.92. Skycorp Solar Group and Scienture Holdings each traded at all-time lows, with Skycorp down 68.92% or 0.69 to 0.31 and Scienture losing 42.23% or 0.18 to 0.24.
Market volatility, as measured by the CBOE Volatility Index, eased slightly, with the VIX down 1.42% to 30.61.
Commodities posted mixed-to-strong moves. Gold futures for June delivery rose 0.21% or 9.62 to $4,533.92 a troy ounce. Crude oil for May delivery climbed 5.56% or 5.54 to $105.18 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract increased 3.44% or 3.62 to $108.94 a barrel.
