Market context and sectors in focus

Risks

  • Large intraday swings in crude and Brent prices, as reported, introduce uncertainty for energy and oil-related companies and their market valuations.
  • Sharp movements in key individual stocks - with several showing 10% gains or losses - indicate elevated idiosyncratic risk at the company level across sectors such as construction, real estate and petrochemicals.
  • Currency volatility in USD/TRY and EUR/TRY can affect earnings and balance sheets of exporters, importers and domestically-financed companies sensitive to FX.
