Taiwanese equities closed down on Monday, with the Taiwan Weighted retreating 0.68% as losses in the , Semiconductor and Machinery sectors pressured the market. Several individual names posted double-digit percentage moves in both directions. Commodity benchmarks and foreign-exchange pairs showed modest intraday changes.

Copartner Technology Corp (TW:3550) rounded out the top performers, rising 10.00% or 1.75 points to 19.25 at the close.

Largest declines

On the downside, HannsTouch Solution Inc (TW:3049) led losses, slipping 7.94% or 1.10 points to end the session at 12.75. Eastech Holding Limited (TW:5225) dropped 7.78%, a fall of 7.00 points to 83.00, while Yi Jinn Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1457) lost 7.06% or 1.15 points, closing at 15.15.

Market breadth, as reported for the Taiwan Stock Exchange, registered declining stocks outnumbering advancing ones by 0 to 0.

Notable milestone

Shares of Dynamic Electronics Co Ltd (TW:3715) reached an all-time high during the session, rising 10.00% or 18.50 to close at 203.50.

Commodities and currencies

In commodities trading, crude oil for May delivery rose 0.83% or 0.83 to $100.47 a barrel. Brent oil for June delivery increased 2.01% or 2.12 to $107.44 a barrel. The June Gold Futures contract was higher by 0.69% or 31.00, trading at $4,555.30 a troy ounce.

On the currency front, USD/TWD declined 0.22% to 31.97, while TWD/CNY was unchanged at 0.05% to 0.22. The US Dollar Index Futures moved down 0.08% to 99.90.
