Taipei - Taiwan stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the Taiwan Weighted finishing the session down 0.43%. Market participants noted that losses in the , Glass and Plastic sectors weighed on the index.

At the individual-stock level, a handful of names recorded strong percentage gains. Lingsen Precision Industries Ltd (TW:2369) led the winners, rising 10.00% - a 3.25-point gain - to finish at 35.75. Sinbon Electronics Co Ltd (TW:3023) climbed 9.98%, adding 24.50 points to close at 270.00, and Shin Tai Industry Co Ltd (TW:1235) advanced 9.96% or 3.60 points to end the day at 39.75.

On the downside, several large moves pushed the laggards list. Nanya Technology Corp (TW:2408) fell 10.00%, a decline of 26.00 points, to close at 234.00. Elite Semiconductor Memory Technology Inc (TW:3006) dropped 9.91% or 21.50 points to 195.50, and Amtran Technology Co Ltd (TW:2489) declined 9.91% - 4.25 points - to finish at 38.65.

Market breadth data reported: "Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0." Shares of Lingsen Precision Industries Ltd (TW:2369) reached an all-time high, rising 10.00% or 3.25 to 35.75 at the close.


Commodities traded with divergent moves. Crude oil for May delivery rose 3.87%, up $3.41, to $91.54 a barrel. Brent crude for June delivery gained 3.72% or $3.57 to $99.49 a barrel. By contrast, the June Gold Futures contract fell 1.39%, down $61.90, trading at $4,377.60 per troy ounce.

Currency and dollar metrics also shifted. The Taiwan dollar was weaker against the U.S. dollar, with USD/TWD up 0.29% at 31.97. TWD/CNY was essentially unchanged, moving 0.09% to 0.22. The US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.47% to 99.19.


Separately, the session included a promotional note on AI-driven portfolio selection that highlighted historical performance metrics: the release stated that, year to date, two out of three global portfolios run by the product were outperforming their benchmark indexes, with 88% of holdings in the green, and that the flagship Tech Titans strategy had doubled the S&P 500 within 18 months with named winners cited as examples.
