Porsche AG delivered 60,991 vehicles worldwide in the first quarter, a decrease of 15% from the 71,470 units reported in the same period a year earlier. The company attributed the lower overall volume to a combination of product lifecycle events and changes in incentives that affected consumer demand.
Management highlighted three main factors behind the decline: the end of production for the combustion-engined 718 series, the fact that the prior-year period included the ramp-up of the fully electric Macan at market launch, and the discontinuation of tax incentives for electric and hybrid vehicles in the United States. These elements, together, led to a shipment profile that fell short of last year’s level but remained within internal expectations.
Despite the fall in total deliveries, the flagship 911 range saw rising demand. Deliveries of the 911 sports car climbed 22% year-over-year in the quarter, with Porsche noting that the derivative mix across model lines remained balanced and featured a significant share of GTS, Turbo and GT variants.
Matthias Becker, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG, commented on the results: "Following the end of the combustion-engined 718 and the strong deliveries of the fully electric Macan at market launch, our figures are below the prior-year level but are overall in line with our expectations."
Regional performance varied. North America continued to be Porsche’s largest market, with 18,344 cars delivered, a decrease of 11% from the prior-year period. Germany recorded 7,778 deliveries, up 4% year-over-year. The rest of Europe (excluding Germany) saw deliveries fall 18% to 14,710 units, while China posted a 21% decline to 7,519 deliveries.
By model, the Cayenne remained the highest-volume nameplate with 19,183 deliveries, down 4% from the prior-year period. The Macan totaled 18,209 units, a 23% decline that nevertheless included 8,079 all-electric variants. The Panamera experienced a 42% drop in deliveries to 4,498 units, which Porsche said was primarily the result of a temporary product gap ahead of the April introduction of Pure Editions in China. The 718 series recorded 1,792 deliveries, down 60%, and the Taycan fell 19% to 3,420 units.
Porsche also confirmed plans for its all-electric Cayenne, stating the model will be introduced to markets worldwide from summer onwards.
