Istanbul market closes lower as BIST 100 dips 0.88%

The BIST 100 ended the Friday session down 0.88% as losses across Wholesale & Retail Trade, Non-Metal Mineral Products and Technology stocks outpaced advances. While several mid- and small-cap names posted gains, declines outnumbered rises on the Istanbul exchange. Commodities and FX moves included mixed oil contracts, lower gold futures and a firmer US dollar index.

Top performers

  • Kuyas Yatirim AS (KUYAS) led gains on the BIST 100, rising 4.53% or 3.30 points to finish at 76.20.
  • Cvk Maden Isletmeleri Sanayi ve Ticaret AS (CVKMD) advanced 4.10% or 1.32 points to close at 33.52.
  • Gulermak Agir Sanayi Insaat ve Taahhut AS (GLRMK) was up 3.57% or 6.50 points, ending the session at 188.50.

Lagging stocks

  • Efor Yatırım Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. (EFOR) fell 9.94% or 0.81 points to close at 7.34, making it the session's weakest performer.
  • Kiler Holding AS (KLRHO) dropped 8.68% or 11.20 points to end at 117.80.
  • Kontrolmatik Teknoloji Enerji ve Mu (KONTR) declined 3.96% or 0.32 points to finish at 7.77.

Across the exchange, falling issues outnumbered advancing ones by 328 to 270, while 21 stocks were unchanged at the close.

Two stocks moved to notable lows during the session. Shares of Efor Yatırım Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. (EFOR) fell to 52-week lows, trading down 9.94% or 0.81 to 7.34. Kontrolmatik Teknoloji Enerji ve Mu (KONTR) slid to three-year lows, down 3.96% or 0.32 to 7.77.


Commodities and FX

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery declined 0.48% or 22.75, settling at $4,679.70 a troy ounce. Crude oil for May delivery fell 0.40% or 0.45 to $111.54 a barrel, while the June Brent contract rose 7.99% or 8.08 to trade at $109.24 a barrel.

On the currency front, USD/TRY strengthened 0.31% to 44.59, and EUR/TRY eased 0.12% to 51.50. The US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.52% to 99.98.
