Denmark's stock market closed higher on Tuesday, with the OMX Copenhagen 20 up 0.52% as gains in Consumer Goods, Chemicals and Software & Computer Services supported the advance. Zealand Pharma led the index's winners, while Carlsberg, Pandora and FLSmidth were among the decliners. Market breadth showed a modest majority of rising stocks, and energy and precious metals prices ticked up alongside modest foreign-exchange movements.

Copenhagen equities ended the trading session in positive territory on Tuesday, with the OMX Copenhagen 20 finishing up 0.52%.

The session was led by strength in the Consumer Goods, Chemicals and Software & Computer Services sectors, which collectively helped push the benchmark higher.

Top performers

  • Zealand Pharma A/S (CSE:ZELA) paced the winners, climbing 5.08% or 14.40 points to close at 297.60.
  • AP Moeller - Maersk A/S B (CSE:MAERSKb) rose 3.66% or 635.00 points to finish at 18,000.00.
  • AP Moeller - Maersk A/S A (CSE:MAERSKa) added 3.43% or 580.00 points to end the day at 17,470.00.

Lagging names

  • Carlsberg A/S B (CSE:CARLb) was the weakest on the OMXC20, sliding 2.28% or 20.20 points to close at 866.80.
  • Pandora A/S (CSE:PNDORA) fell 2.12% or 9.40 points to end at 434.60.
  • FLSmidth & Co. (CSE:FLS) declined 1.66% or 8.20 points to finish at 485.60.

By market breadth, rising stocks outnumbered decliners on the Copenhagen exchange by 62 to 54, while 20 issues closed unchanged.

Notable price milestones during the session included AP Moeller - Maersk A/S B and A shares reaching three-year highs, with the B share up to 18,000.00 and the A share to 17,470.00 following respective gains of 3.66% and 3.43%. Conversely, Pandora A/S fell to a three-year low at 434.60 after its 2.12% decline.

Commodities and currencies

Energy markets moved higher in the session: crude oil for May delivery increased 1.37% or 1.27 to $93.73 a barrel, while Brent for May delivery rose 1.32% or 1.32 to $101.53 a barrel. In metals, the April Gold Futures contract gained 0.13% or 6.50 to trade at 5,008.70 a troy ounce.

On foreign exchange, USD/DKK was down 0.20% at 6.48 and EUR/DKK was effectively unchanged, moving 0.02% to 7.47. The US Dollar Index Futures traded 0.09% lower at 99.38.

The session's price moves reflected mixed signals across sectors, with particular activity in consumer-related names, industrials and shipping stocks, alongside modest shifts in energy, precious metals and currency markets.
