Danish equities finished the trading day on a positive note Wednesday, as sector strength in Oil & Gas, Chemicals and Consumer Goods helped push the OMX Copenhagen 20 up 0.25% at the close in Copenhagen.
Among constituents, Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CSE:VWS) registered the largest gain on the index, climbing 5.96% or 9.40 points to finish at 166.10. NKT Holding (CSE:NKT) followed with a 4.82% increase, adding 37.00 points to close at 804.50. Rockwool AS B (CSE:ROCKb) also advanced, up 3.93% or 7.00 points to end the session at 179.00.
Not all names moved higher. Pandora A/S (CSE:PNDORA) was the weakest performer on the OMX Copenhagen 20, slipping 4.41% or 21.20 points to 459.70 at the close. Shipping and logistics group DSV Panalpina A/S (CSE:DSV) fell 3.39% or 52.50 points to finish at 1,495.00, while Novo Nordisk A/S Class B (CSE:NOVOb) declined 0.92% or 2.20 points to 235.80.
Market breadth on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange favored rising shares, with 72 names advancing versus 42 decliners; 23 stocks finished unchanged.
Commodities showed mixed moves. Crude oil for May delivery declined 2.56% or $2.36 to settle at $89.99 a barrel. Brent oil for June delivery fell 3.54% or $3.55 to $96.68 a barrel. By contrast, the June Gold Futures contract rallied 3.44% or $152.57 to trade at $4,586.67 a troy ounce.
On the currency front, USD/DKK rose 0.33% to 6.46, while EUR/DKK was effectively unchanged, moving 0.03% to 7.47. The US Dollar Index Futures registered a modest gain of 0.07% to 99.31.
